New Music Friday SPOTLIGHT on Singer Songwriter Matt Hurd

Our New Music Friday Spotlight features a new EP Release from Singer-Songwriter Matt Hurd "Was a Dream." New Yorker Matt Hurd never disappoints his fans and this five song ep celebrates his prolific songwriting and the musical influencers who helped him shape his music career.

The ep compliation includes two previously released singles including covers of Fiona Apples, "Criminal" and Sheryl Crows, "If It Makes You Happy.".

His title track "Was a Dream" is described by Hurd as "A love story hidden in a dream with a xylophone." Hurd said, The line “go back to bed and rest your head, you know the stars are still shining” came to me as I kept playing the guitar progression. I wasn’t sure where to go with it until I just ran with the dream idea based upon looking back on some special time you spent with someone.

Hurds EP makes it clear that he is a visual dreamer influenced by some iconic artists and from different genres including country star Zach Bryan and legendary songwriters John Mayer and Jason Mraz, The Gin Blossoms and Oasis. Even with paying homage to his musical heroes, Hurd's distrinctive gritty and powerful vocals make him a stand out in the contemporary music scene. His music appeals to a fanbase of varied music lovers.
