(Nashville, Tenn. - Feb. 22, 2021) - Moving quickly with the momentum that was built in 2020, Manny Blu enters 2021 with the intent to continue to position himself in front of the country music community as a unique, forward-thinking artist. Blu continues to roll out new music with a fresh, original take in his live performance series, Live & Turned Up, as he stakes his claim on the subgenre of "country punk." Live & Turned Up is a live performance series, premiering bi-weekly via Manny Blu’s Official YouTube page HERE and will be available on all social media platforms.

In an upcoming episode released on February 26, the former hockey player, MMA fighter, and native Canadian will reveal the third installment of his Live & Turned Up series that exemplifies what 'country punk' truly is, "It is the songwriting and storytelling of country music with the loud drums and guitars driving the story home," Blu explains, "'Country Punk' is country music to the core, with a punk attitude."

The country music maverick brings his diverse new sound with the live performance series using a mix of covers including Ed Sheeran’s “BLOW,” previously released tracks like Manny’s “Old Money,” as well as unreleased material including his country-punk cornerstone “95.” Each tune was strategically chosen to personify Blu’s rebellious leap into a new country-punk space where rock-based instrumentals are at the forefront. “BLOW” was originally performed by the diverse group of Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and Chris Stapleton, Blu elaborates on why he chose songs from different genres to include in the series: “I covered “BLOW” because I think it's the best example that genres really don't matter. Its originally recorded by three guys doing completely different types of music and they all sound amazing on it,” he continues, “‘Death by Rock N Roll’ by The Pretty Reckless is a song that actually has storytelling type lyrics, which is the backbone of country music, but it is presented with Hard Rock instrumentation. It's fast, it's loud and its storytelling.” The country music landscape continues to develop and morph with influences from all genres. This is something Blu wants to continue to lean into and embrace as he continues to move forward in his career, “I enjoy fusing genres together to make something unique and bringing these song to the series does exactly that. And THAT is Country Punk!”

Known for his dynamic live performances, Blu and his band wanted to recreate the energy of a live show in each Live & Turned Up release, saying, "I wanted to lean into alternative content, and I thought playing our live versions of songs and recording them was a fun way to do that...we wanted to showcase how exciting our live show is." The band has previously released two-song performances "Old Money" from Blu's 2020 sophomore EP and "BLOW," both of which were filmed in East Nashville’s H.O.M.E. - a non-profit community for music creators.. Following "95's" release on February 26, Live & Turned Up will have releases through April 9 with additional installments throughout the year. Manny continues to develop and mold his unique vibe to country music–a sound he introduced with his debut EP Leave It Like It Is (2019), followed by his 2020 release, New Ink. Despite the difficulties that all artists had to face in the past year, 2020 was a landmark year for Manny Blu as he continued to make himself seen in the country music community. The promising artist expanded his team to an international level through added representation in the US and the UK, successfully releasing his EP New Ink filled with major songwriters like Josh Osborne, Ross Copperman, and Rhett Akins, and finding success with his debut release from that project "Born to Ride," reaching over 350K views on Youtube and surpassing over 1M streams worldwide.
