The out-of-control, alternative rock n' roll duo Sleep Nation comes swinging out of the gate with a brand new single & music video, "Sophistication." Sophistication is the quality or character of being intellectually sophisticated and worldly through cultivation, experience, or disillusionment. Sophistication can also be used to describe a deep understanding or an almost enlightened state. The music video is simplistic yet, filled with high energy, with lead singer Bran Merritt rocking his signature jacket and dance moves. Like the song title, the video is "sophisticated" and very professional.

Bran Merritt's raspy vocals are incomparable, which stands out the most. He truly emphasizes the word “sophistication” throughout the song. Bran says, “sophistication” sounds like if Nine Inch Nails and Peter Gabriel teamed up in a battle against Skynet to stop the apocalypse. Who wins? Listen to find out.”

Lyrics such as, “sophistication. Where are we going? When will it end? Danger Destruction. Psychotic symbiotic erotic trend?” talks about being so engulfed in staring at your phone hours upon hours, but missing the world around you.

This is by far the duo’s best video to date and will surely bring them many opportunities in the near future.

Alternative-rock duo consist of lead vocalist Bran Merritt and drummer Joey Lauretta. They have opened for national touring acts such as Adema and Sponge. Because they always give their all for their live shows, they’ve come to be known as the “Out of Control Rock ‘N’ Roll Duo.”

In 2014, the duo’s music video and single release for "I Want You Back" landed the band a spot on Nashville radio station 102.9 The Buzz's "Local Buzz Top 25." Sunset Island Music ranked Sleep Nation #2 among the Top 25 Unsigned Bands around the world. In 2015, the pair’s second official music video "Mr. Unlucky" was released in promotion of the film “Hair of the Dog,” directed by Michael Butts. They also wrote "I'm a Werewolf, But That's Ok" for the movie’s soundtrack. In 2016, the band celebrated the release of their self-titled debut album. The single "Slip" became the album’s second track to be named 102.9 The Buzz’s "Local Buzz Cut of the Week." 2018 saw the arrival of singles "Scream & Shout" and "American Way" via Victory Music Buzz. Their single "SPACEman" featured Daisy Dead from the Dead Deads.
