The Imaginaries Saddle Up for A COWGIRL'S SONG Netflix Premiere on Aug. 21
The Imaginaries saddle up for the Netflix premiere of A COWGIRL'S SONG on Aug. 21. The husband-and-wife duo, composed of Maggie McClure and Shane Henry, served as producers of the coming-of-age drama, and starred in the film alongside Cheryl Ladd, Darci Lynne and Savannah Lee May. To celebrate, The Imaginaries and Darci Lynne are hosting a livestream event on Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. CT on their social media platforms (@ImaginariesBand and @ItsDarciLynne).
The fourth installment in the COWGIRLS 'N ANGELS franchise, A COWGIRL'S SONG follows an aspiring but adrift teen singer who goes to live with her grandmother, once a country music legend, that has fallen on hard times after the death of her husband five years earlier. Together they overcome adversity and find redemption through their love of music.
Written and directed by Timothy Armstrong and produced by Armstrong, Starla Christian and Jessica Barondes, A COWGIRL'S SONG was originally released in theaters and on VOD from Samuel Goldwyn Films on April 22. The original motion picture soundtrack, written and produced by The Imaginaries, was released in tandem with the film's premiere. The Americana and country-driven track list features recordings from The Imaginaries and each of the leading actresses.
Wide Open Country premiered the first listen to the lead single, "Oklahoma Stars," "a cinematic love song that parallels their own romance (Bobbie Jean Sawyer)," while Cowgirl Magazine revealed the first listen to their cover of the Western classic, "Don't Fence Me In," which "fit the spirit of the movie (Carly Billington)." Parade debuted the official video for "Oklahoma Stars" that features "ringing acoustic guitar, gorgeous harmonies and a love story with a happy ending (Laura Whitmore)."
The Imaginaries have collaborated with Armstrong on many of his films since 2011 when McClure’s song “Good Morning and Good Night” was chosen to be featured in the opening credits of COWGIRLS 'N ANGELS. McClure and Armstrong wrote a custom song for A COWGIRL'S STORY, which The Imaginaries performed on camera in the film released in 2017. For A COWGIRL'S SONG, The Imaginaries co-wrote four original songs for the film’s soundtrack with Armstrong and produced it all virtually due to the pandemic.
Momentum continues for The Imaginaries this fall as they prepare for the release of "Things Are Gonna Be Alright" on Sept. 9. The new single will be available for pre-order on Aug. 18. Written by Henry and Jeff Silbar ("Wind Beneath My Wings"), "Things Are Gonna Be Alright" is a deeply personal track for The Imaginaries that delivers a universal and relevant message of hope to listeners. The duo also has upcoming tour dates, including concerts with Noah Vonne in Dallas on Sept. 13 and Tulsa on Sept. 14, a stop in Nashville for AMERICANAFEST and a show on Sept. 18 with The Woods and Kiely Connell at The Basement as well as a concert on Oct. 14 in Oklahoma City.
