SPENCER JORDAN AND NATALIA MOUNT RELEASE NEW SINGLE"For the Sake of Summer"

Though this year’s summer is feeling a little different than year’s past, Spencer Jordan and Natalia Mount’s new single, “For the Sake of the Summer” is giving us a reason to turn the music up and sing like nobody’s listening. Released on July 17th, the single was written poolside back in February and highlights the romantic allure of a summertime fling.

“I think it’s goofy and fun and kinda campy, but that's exactly what we're going for. Not every song needs to be high art, sometimes you just need something fun to sing along to with the windows down. “

- Spencer Jordan

As the song fades in, you’re instantly hooked by the muted guitars that draw similarities to 5 Seconds of Summer’s pop/rock sound. Mount and Jordan split the track, each telling their side of the romance in a verse and sing together in the choruses and bridge. With fun-filled lyrics such as “I just want you to hold me/ Like you held your liquor down at sixteen/ Just put me on your body like I’m sunscreen”, the track teases the intricacies of love under the sun while staying lighthearted and memorable.

Both artists are avid pop writers, citing influences from both their childhoods and today’s pop stars. For Mount, it’s Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato, whose influence is noticeable within her strong vocal performance on the track. Jordan, though growing up on pop icons such as Jason Mraz and John Mayer, has recently been drawing inspiration from Lauv and Quinn XCII.

Unlike tan lines that always fade, “For the Sake of the Summer” is sure to become a staple in your playlist long past this summer season.
