Pop Singer-Songwriter Gerle Releases Lovesick Anthem "Crush Gone Wrong"

July 16, 2021 – Pop sensation Gerle releases single “Crush Gone Wrong.” The single is now available on all digital streaming platforms.

Gerle is a California-based indie-pop artist who has an incredible musical journey behind her and in front of her. Gerle’s influences hail from the likes of Robyn, Miley Cyrus, and Madonna, but her sonic quality is unique and effervescent all on its own. She is unapologetic, vulnerable, and unafraid to be herself - all the best and most badass qualities to have.

Gerle’s new single “Crush Gone Wrong” is a beautiful pop masterpiece. Backed with a house music sound, synthetic strings, and a gorgeous melody line, Crush Gone Wrong is a stellar example of what all modern pop should feel like. One of the best parts of “Crush Gone Wrong” is the instrumentation and overall production. The strings and rhythmic bass line give “Crush Gone Wrong” an otherworldly feeling. When these elements are combined with the trap drumbeat, they make the whole song groove.

The lyrical story of Crush Gone Wrong is quite clever, and the storytelling of the song is full of smart nuances. Gerle told PopWrapped: “It’s not the typical love song even though it started from a somewhat normal place of good old-fashioned unrequited love. But I wanted it to be darker and somewhat creepy, while also sounding sincere and sweet, because (in the song) she truly believes they are going to be together. I think, nowadays, social media plays a giant part in a normal person feeling like/becoming a creeper. We have all done it, whether it’s a friend, an ex, or a celebrity, we all check up on people. You don’t have to show up at someone’s door or hide in the shrubs in their backyard to be a stalker nowadays. Just head to their Insta profile and they basically give you a front-row seat. And I think having that platform, where we know we can see anything, anyone, anytime, and it’s their version of the truth, which is usually bullshit, can turn any normal person crazy. So, am I normal or totally nuts? You’re gonna have to listen to the song and see for yourself!”

While the actual production on “Crush Gone Wrong” is enchanting, (courtesy of Grammy-award-winning producer Tone Def), Gerle’s vocal work is what really sells the track. Although she may not be belting out the lyrics like Whitney Huston or Aretha Franklin, Gerle creates her own sonic footprint in a style that is reminiscent of Lorde and Lana Del Ray. Gerle’s elegant yet subtle way of delivering the lyrics adds to the ethereal nature of Crush Gone Wrong.

Gerle has had her songs featured on wildly popular shows such as Jersey Shore, Married to Medicine, and Snooki and JWoww. The performer was also a featured guest on RuPaul’s Drag Race, and her music has been praised on social media by moguls Paris and Nicky Hilton.

She works in tandem with Grammy-award-winning producer Tone Def (Santana, Green Day, Briston Maroney) to write and produce her singles, and together the two have created an ethereal and original sound to embody who Gerle is.

Gerle has also had previous singles reach as high as #53 on the Billboard charts, only adding to the admiration and acclaim she has received.

The pop songstress has released her singles “Drown You Out (Acoustic),” “Shadows,” “Shadows (Stripped),” “Head in A Bottle, Head in A Bottle (Stripped),” “DLMD”, “DLMD (Stripped),” and most recently “Worst Song Ever.”
