MUC Interview: Justin Kemp Band Releases New Single "Borrow A Kiss"

The Justin Kemp Band released a new single “Borrow A Kiss” that country music fans are bound to fall in love with. Here at Music Update Central we had the chance to catch up with Justin Kemp. You can check out the full interview below.

MUC: What was the inspiration behind "Borrow A Kiss”

Justin Kemp: The Inspiration behind "Borrow A Kiss” actually came up while we were flying to Nashville for a co-writing session I had lined up with Brenda Kornblum. I was sitting on the plane trying to figure out what we were going to write when we got there, and the idea of cheesy pickup lines was mentioned. We pitched the idea to Brenda and ran with it. After coming across the line “Can I borrow a kiss if I promise to give it back”, I knew it was perfect!

MUC: Who are some of your biggest influences?

Justin Kemp: Some of my biggest influences would be Brooks and Dunn, Keith Whitley, George Strait, Travis Tritt, Ricochet, Toby Keith, John Michael Montgomery and honestly many of the artists from the 90’s. I have a little influence from Merle Haggard, WIllie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, George Jones and Johnny Cash. My father being a huge Merle fan, I grew up hearing a lot of music from the 70’s.

MUC: Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Justin Kemp: If I had the option to collaborate with someone, I’d have to choose Brooks and Dunn. Being as they are one of my biggest influences, I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with those guys! I’d also love the opportunity to collaborate with Luke Combs. I love his music and his style of country music, as well as Cody Johnson.

MUC: Do you have any upcoming shows?

Justin Kemp: I have a show on October 30th opening for Aaron Watson, which I’m really excited about! I also have a few private shows coming up and some local gigs here in Hobbs.

MUC: What's next for you?

Justin Kemp: The next thing for me is to continue working hard writing country music and releasing music to all my fans out there supporting me! I’m working on bigger and better shows, and booking anywhere I can to broaden my horizons playing good music for good people.
