MUC Interview: Jake Francis releases country hit "What I've Been Missing"
Country riser Jake Francis releases single "What I've Been Missing." You can listen to the song here.
What is the inspiration behind the new single?
The song is about a real-life breakup I went through a few years back. It really beat me down and took a long time for me to get back to being myself. I sat down so many times to write this song before I finally found the words I was trying to say. Who are your biggest idols in life and in music?
Like many others, my parents are my idols. They both have been bartenders my whole life and have worked hard to give me everything they have. Musically my idols are Luke Combs & Riley Green. They are such raw and authentic artists that can connect with their fans on such a real personal level. That’s what I strive to do in my music career. What is your favorite fall activity?
Well, I have a newborn baby at home so things have definitely changed for me this year. I’ve been enjoying going to pumpkin patches with my family and just enjoying the time at home.
What is your favorite place that you've traveled to?
I’ve been to over 25 states now and seen a lot of places in my life but I have to say the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, TN is my favorite place in the world. Getting a cabin in the middle of nowhere and just turning off the world to enjoy family and the views is best. What is your favorite song right now?
I would say my favorite song at the moment is Thinking Bout’ You by Dustin Lynch & Lauren Alaina. It’s a great song lyrically and has such a catchy melody to it. It’s an always-changing topic though.
What is your favorite thing about playing live music?
My favorite thing is being able to meet so many different people from so many different places and connect with them through music.
As a little boy, Jake always had a love for country music. Born and raised in Coral Springs, Florida, he grew up with a love for competition and sports. He played baseball, golf, football, and hockey throughout his childhood. His father bought him his first guitar at the age of twelve, but he never got around to learning until hanging up a career as a professional golfer.
While starting a farm in Central Florida where he grew produce and sold it to the small town’s restaurants and community, Jake fell in love with the art of songwriting. After selling the farm only a few short years later, Jake moved back home to sunny South Florida. He began playing the local bars and made a name for himself in the South Florida music scene in a very short time. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2021 where he is playing and writing music.
Jake recently took on the title of “dad,” and is cherishing his time with his newborn son and is focusing on playing several famous Nashville Broadway bars such as Jason Aldean’s.
