LOCKWOOD BARR RELEASES MUSIC VIDEO FOR “CHRISTMAS IN MEMPHIS”

Award-winning singer/songwriter, Lockwood Barr, is excited to announce the release of her new music video for Christmas in Memphis, one of the five songs on her recently released EP. Taking the holiday season by storm, Barr has included four Christmas classics and an original track on this festive project. Bringing to life the original, Christmas in Memphis, Lockwood Barr joined creative forces with Barrett Baber, a Nashville Sony ATV songwriter and second runner up on the ninth season of The Voice. The emotions forcefully flood from the music as they express the yearning and anguish through powerful solos and warm harmonies. The collaboration is sure to become a holiday favorite as the smooth vocals and intense lyrical meaning intertwine effortlessly. Christmas in Memphis can be found on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and all other online retailers.

“Barrett and I wanted something simple that would showcase the raw emotions of the song without distracting them," says Lockwood. It’s all about the story telling.”

Behind the Music Video

The aesthetic of the music video is carried by the beauty of simplicity. Clean cut cinematic clips follow the true story of heartache during a season of love, such as Christmas. The video is shot in one single location with a pure white bright background, illuminating the performers. The use of the fade-in and fade-out technique is complementary to the clean well-defined style and tone of the recording. There are no flashy props, complicated venues or extravagant costumes as they truly zone in on the natural and raw talent.   The two musicians, Barr and Baber, are continuously filmed with their backs facing one another throughout the four-minute twelve-second video. While they are clearly singing a duet together, they appear to be suffering individually from the same pounding heartache. When soloing, the other performer is just as attentive, if not more, expressing the wretchedness of a broken heart through passionate body language and emotional facial expressions. The presence of stubbornness appears to be the biggest barricade in this relationship. Despite the deep longing for love each desires to feel, they remain chained by heavy hearts.
