Interview: Kentucky Native, Sean Stemaly Shares Message Behind Craft
Country artist, Sean Stemaly chats with Music Update Central to share the inspiration behind upcoming release "Georgia", 2019 plans, and much more in our exclusive interview below!
Thanks for chatting with Music Update Central! What's the inspiration behind your upcoming release Georgia? I went into the writing room that day and told the guys a story about a fling I had with a girl from Georgia a long time ago and we just turned it into a song. I have no idea where all the song references in the chorus came from but it just ended up working out.
What can fans expect in 2019? Well, we're releasing ‘Georgia’ February 1st and then I plan on starting another project not too long after that. We are going to be touring a lot more this year as well, so stay tuned for updates on that!
When did you know that you wanted to make a living out of music? It wasn’t until I was around 22 that I was sure I wanted to make a living out of it. My buddy, Austin Peckham, moved here at the time so I came here almost every weekend hanging and doing music stuff with him and just fell in love with this city and this industry.
What's the best story that you can tell us from performing at a venue?
We were opening for Ryan Upchurch last year in Indiana. On the third song, my in-ear monitors stopped working and beer got spilled on my set list almost at the same time. My boot was on the setlist when the beer got spilled so right when I moved my foot, the list got ripped in half. A couple of songs after that, my guitar players monitor and utility players monitor went out so we played the show pretty much deaf and I had no idea which songs to sing next. Luckily, we pulled through and got it done!
