MUC Talks with Alternative Country-Rocker Chris Moreno
What made you want to be an artist?
Ever since I was a kid, music has always been the thing that I’ve felt most connected to. I would spend hours each day listening to all different styles, artists and bands. I fell in love with the guitar at an early age, but it wasn’t until later on that I truly discovered singing and songwriting. That was the point when I started thinking and branding myself as an artist. That was around five years ago and I haven’t looked back since. Being an artist who writes and performs his own songs has given me an outlet to express myself in a way that I never could before. I’m truly thankful to have found it and knowing that people connect with what I’m creating really keeps me going. If I can make people feel the way that my favorite artists made me feel then, to me, there’s really nothing better than that.
What’s the inspiration behind your EP, Into The Night?
“Into The Night” is a collection of songs that for the most part deals with loss and the struggle to let go of things or people in life that you’ve loved. I wrote almost all of these songs after a breakup and it proved to be very cathartic in many ways. My debut album was titled “Into the Sun” which had a fairly positive and optimistic tone to it, and so given the nature of this one “Into the night” seemed like the perfect contrast. There is however one love song on there for good measure titled “That Song” which I wrote around the same time I had written the debut album.
What’s some upcoming tour dates? What can fans expect?
I have plenty of shows coming up! These are mostly acoustic shows so fans can expect a mixture of original songs and all types of cover songs that I love. Eventually, over the next year or so I’ll be transitioning to doing more full-band shows along with the acoustic ones.

What’s the inspiration behind your lead single, It Was You?
“It Was You” felt like the perfect song to release first for this EP because it really captures the sentiment of where I was coming from with this collection of songs. It’s a song that I wrote while I was attempting to move on from a relationship that had ended, but still had a lot of good in it. Relationships are never black and white and sometimes who ended it or why it ended become almost irrelevant and we become consumed with remembering all of the good and all of the potential that was there. I typically maintain a positive outlook in my music as well as in life and so to write a breakup song that focused mostly on good parts felt like something different and I was proud of that.
