Interview: Breaking it Down with New Release; Gianni Paci

Rising artist, Gianni Paci presents a soulful-poppy sound with the music he releases. Gianni Paci chats about his new EP 'I Tried To Right My Wrongs, But I Made A Left', inspiration behind music video, and dream performing place.

Thank you for chatting with Music Update Central! You released your new EP ‘’I Tried To Right My Wrongs, But I Made A Left’’. When fans are listening to the EP, what can fans experience? This is the first release I’ve recorded on all instruments, producing, tracking and mixing everything myself. So I think “I Tried To Right My Wrongs, But I Made A Left” is the crystallization of this desire to work this way, with no intermediary parties interfering in the creative process. It’s exposed in a way other music I’ve put out is not, but I think that makes for a better listening experience, honestly. My favorite records don’t have that modern-day shellac job, either.

You recently released your music video for your single ‘If You Believe It’s Alright’. What was the inspiration behind the music video? The inspiration behind the video came from the spirit of the song. I wrote “If You Believe It’s Alright” as this sort of ode to optimism, with a little spiritual spin, so the religious symbolism and outdoorsy visuals depicted on film reflect and heighten all of that.

You found your voice in the music industry at a young age. How has this shaped you into the musician you are today?Having the experiences I’ve had at such a young age has given me a sort of perspective that I think a lot of young people my age are missing. It feels like it’s been a long time coming because, well, it’s been a long time. But then I am just getting started. So that sort of tension makes for a kind of interesting result, I think: you have this little rock and roll kid bringing the spirit of the past into the future." What advice would you give other aspiring musicians that want to pursue a musical career? Decide what it is you want and the rest is easy. MUC Random Question: If you could perform anywhere in the country, where would you perform and why? Los Angeles is really cool…I’d love to play out there again. I guess as a native New Yorker, that city just seems to hold some kind of polar opposite allure.
