Interview: Pop Independent Artist, Kyle Reynolds Creates His Own Statement

Shining through the country air in Nashville, TN, singer/songwriter Kyle Reynolds showcases his pure talent to the world. With the release of his single 'Money For Tonight', Reynolds discuss the inspiration behind the single, moving to Nashville, TN, and song placements.

Thank you for chatting with Music Update Central! Your single 'Money For Tonight' is such an original song. Where did you find the inspiration behind this song? Of course! Thank you so much for supporting me! Really means a lot. To be honest the inspiration just came from my real life haha. There’s moments as an up and coming artist where you get paid really well for things and also time where you don’t how you’re going to pay for your next meal. That’s just the reality of being a creative and doing what you love. So through that there’s been LOTS of days where I’m like shooot I dont know how I’m gonna pay rent tomorrow but I got money for tonight. After hearing myself say “I got money for tonight,” I knew that had to be a song and that had to be sung in the chorus. I ended up using the verses to share all the real parts of my life and story and then create a chorus that every 20 something year old can sing and relate to.

You're originally from California then made the move to Nashville, TN. Why did you choose to relocate? Yes, that is true! I chose to relocate because I just knew I couldn’t what I was doing during my trips to Nashville in Laguna Beach, CA. I had made some really good friends and started writing with a bunch of talented writers out there. It was just one of these things where I knew in my heart I had to leave California. I feel like I have to give credit to Donald Miller, the author of a booked called Painted Deserts because that inspired, because that inspired me, but I didn’t really hesitate at all. So one day I just packed up my car and drove straight to TN.

You've received many song placements on network television and radio. How does that feel being an independent artist? It’s freaking crazy! Every single time it happens I have to make sure it’s real life and I’m not dreaming. It’s really such an honor and I feel incredibly grateful for all my syncs/songs placements. I’ve been in a season of just trying to be very aware of everything good in my life and I try to never take things like that for granted.

Your bio states that you're hoping to create a fresh new pop sound. How do you go about doing that? Yes I am. I mean to be honest I don’t really care too much about owning that title. What’s most important to me is that I’m honest, creative, truthful, and bold in my music. I want to connect to others, glorify God, have meaningful conversations and relationships, all because of my music.

MUC Random Question: What's your current Netflix obsession? Strangers Things and Ozark FOR SUREEEE. Soooo freaking good.
