Review: Unapologetically by Kelsea Ballerini

Kelsea Ballerini stepped into the country music scene in 2015 with her debut album, 'The First Time.’ Since that release, her career shot to the top with three consecutive No. 1 songs including 'Love Me Like You Mean It,’ 'Peter Pan,’ and 'Dibs' making her the only female artist in country music history to achieve this remarking milestone. With the release of her sophomore album, 'Unapologetically,’ she continues the story and message of her previous album.

An album filled with heartbreak and falling in love, Ballerini showcases relatable lyrics and mesmerizing music to keep the listener wanting more. Ballerini also showcases her writing abilities with composing the album's 12 tracks with the help of co-writers Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman, Ashley Gorley, and Hillary Lindsey.

“I wrote a lot about the break-up that I had,” she explains. “I wrote a lot about growing up, self-discovery, fighting off some insecurities and discovering some new ones, and then, I wrote a lot about falling in love. I realized that the album fell into three categories and it became a chronological story of my life.”

'Unapologetically' attaches to the listener's heart by giving her fans the experience and emotions inside her life. Whether you're listening to an emotional ballad or a confident number, you find her vocals shining through. With this release, Ballerini has yet again claimed her ground in the music industry.
