Interview with Texas Country Artist Brandon Alan New Single "Love You The Same"
Rising Texas singer/songwriter and guitar-aficionado Brandon Alan released his new self-penned single, “Love You The Same,” which has received enormous response from fans and was the most downloaded song at Texas radio last week in its first week of release.
INTERVIEW:
1) What or who was the inspiration for the single? The inspiration of the song was my wife and our relationship during a trying time. It's about the time period in which she was fighting some heavy postpartum depression after we had our son Preston. The theme of the song is unconditional love and to never give up on each other.
2) Do you still reside in Texas? I sure do! We live in the Texas Hill Country, about an hour west of Austin and an hour and a half north of San Antonio in a lake-community called Horseshoe Bay. It's a part of Texas many folks don't realize is here. I play regularly in the Hill Country area radius every week within the 60-75 mile radius. Then of course we play the major cities in Texas quite a bit too.
3) What are your plans to tour? I will keep playing the Texas, Oklahoma / I-35 Corridor as my primary tour route. I'll do special shows in other markets like Utah, New Mexico and Colorado for seasonal events in the ski towns.
Upcoming major festivals? I don't have any major festivals planned for this year. We did do a couple of them in Texas this last year, so I'm sure more will come up after all of this coronavirus stuff simmers down in a month or two (hopefully!)
4)What would be your dream Venue and/or city to perform in? The Greek Theatre in LA would be a cool one. Its outdoor and has a great history to it. In Texas, I really want to play the Houston Rodeo. Another Texas music goal for me is to play Austin City Limits -- the TV show! If we went across the pond... Royal Albert Hall in London would be an incredible experience. So many legends of different genres have played these venues, yet they are all so different than each other. That's another reason I love music. The different regions--the different people--the different venues!
5) Do you Co-write? I did some co-writing in Nashville but never really cut any of that music to a record. I'd say I have cut demo's for about 12 co-written songs, but haven't taken them directly into my project as radio singles.
Who is your all time fav? Its too hard to choose, however some of my favorite lyrical "masterpieces" in country music would be the "House That Built Me" cut my Miranda Lambert (written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin), "When I Get Where I'm Going" cut by Brad Paisley (written by George Teren and Rivers Rutherford). "Meanwhile Back at Mama's" cut by Tim McGraw (written by Jeffrey Steele, Jaren Johnston, Tom Douglas)
I would say this, Stephen Stills is easily one of my favorite combinations of both writer and artist/guitarist. His writing style always captured me as he chose topics that no one else had ever really thought of --listen to the song "Treetop Flyer" as a great example. He also wrote one of the most famous songs of all time "For What It's Worth". He was an expert guitarist with his own unique style as much as a lyricist. Much of my acoustic music early on was influenced directly by him.
And who is you all time performer and why? Joe Walsh! He's hilarious. His show revolves around a guitar, yet somehow he seems to capture everyone in the audience who doesn't know anything about guitar. His energy is always there and to me he's the ultimate expert of live performance.
