Thomas Rhett headlines the Grandstand at the 2018 Iowa State Fair on Wednesday night. Knowing that the event was sold-out, Thomas takes the stage smiling to the crowd. And when he sings "Happy Birthday" to a fan turning 21. And smiles again as he stands behind an acoustic guitar, letting fans sing the chorus to one of his hit one songs.
The country pop star spent his summer playing main support on Kenny Chesney stadium tour, co-hosting ABC's CMA Fest special along with Kelsea Ballerini, and watching his third studio album "Life Changes" go Platinum.
On Wednesday night, he joined Iowa with a sold-out Iowa State Fair Grandstand show of 15,755, the largest the fair's seen in 24 years.
"Why can't everybody else be like y'all?" Rhett said, thanking his Iowa audience.
Showcasing his newest releases from his album "Life Changes", he opened the set with "Leave Right Now" and fan favorites "Life Changes" and "Grave".
Danielle Bradbery, previous winner of NBC's "The Voice," opened the show with a 45-min set featuring tracks such as "Sway", "Worth It", "The Heart Of Dixie", and a cover of Carrie Underwood's "Last Name".
He and the band closed with "Crash and Burn," the country chart-topper from 2015. "I love y'all so much," he said, waving goodbye. "Have a safe trip home".
