Thank you for chatting with Music Update Central! You released your debut single 'Sleeves'. What's the inspiration/story behind the single? The inspiration came from all the tattoos I've gotten over the years. I think some people are quick to judge, like they are all just spring break dares. I do have "Sleeves" and I wanted to write a song telling the story of what they all mean to me, and why I got them.
Your debut single bypassed 500,000 streams on Spotify. What has the support been like for you? It's unbelievable. Support has been amazing. Spotify has been early believers and supporters, John Marks over there has been an early champion of mine. They put me on their New Boots playlist and that has been huge for the song. It's been amazing to have the support and such a great platform to share the music on and make so many new fans.
When did you know that you wanted to be a musician? Very young, I started playing drums at age 4. I wrote my first song at age 12 and I was hooked all the way back then. My Dad played in a southern rock band 4 nights a week every since I can remember. From Skynyrd to Charlie Daniels, Allman Bros, Bob Seger, all the songs my Dad played, I was obsessed. I thought, if I could play music for a living, that would be the greatest job in the world. I dedicated myself all those years ago that if I never gave up and worked harder than everyone else, I had a shot. I've been very blessed and I'm grateful to be able to do what I do for a living.
MUC Random Question: What's your favorite tattoo? Why? Favorite tattoo is probably my 1947 Chevy truck on my arm. It was my grandfathers old truck. They called him "The Hayshaker" and it was hand painted on the door. It's a memorial for him and all the great memories I had with him bailing hay on the farm.
